Larry, I live near Hannibal, MO. For some reason I'm thinking Dewit is not far from there, or am I wrong? And I also have an V Star 650 Classic. Bought it this fall and love it. Used to ride in the 70's, but on a Yamaha RD 350 so it was a buzz machine. Stopped riding when the kids arrived. Your trip to the East sounds interesting.
The trip to NC really does sound interesting. I was in Gatlinburg a couple of years ago with the wife and friends and got close to the Gap.... heard a lot about it. Have you made any other long trips? Longest I've been on so far is a 150 miles.... just had bike for a couple of months but have found the V Sta 650 Classic to be pretty much what I felt I needed. It seems to me that it would get me to NC and back. Have you been up to the Door County area of WI? I recall going around Lake Michigan when I was younger and thinking that would be a really great trip on a cycle.
That is real good to hear about the V Star being a work horse. I just bought mine with 1800 miles on it, so I hope it will stay together for quite some time. When I was young a 650 was a darn BIG bike so I'm still thinking it is as big as I need.
To easy, after loking over all the options with other trikes I chose the Boss Hoss for several reasons, automatic trans that was proven, engine with the get up and go for me to enjoy, the truck body trunk will carry all my needs from wheelchair to P/leg, to crutches, chairs to sit in. after pricing all the others I gave a couple thousand more for the boss the goldwing owners pay. the paint cost more than normal because I did extra details. The trike is something I can work on even from my wheelchair, the design is simple and straight forward. there is so much more call me at 915.588.7836

Look up the boss hoss web site, and find the pictures of a man with no legs ridding a trike, he roles his wheel chair into the back and away he goes, if you have trouble finding the site let me know, Merry Christmas
I hear you Larry I love to ride southwest and western Wi. love them rolling hills. Keep in touch maybe someday we can run into each other out here riding and keep the shiney side up.
Larry, like you, the bike stays in the garage during the winter. About once a month I open the door and back the bike to the open door and let run for about 10 minutes. With the fuel injected engine, it starts right up every time!! Yesterday I began installing the new grip and lever covers! Really adds a nice touch! The grips were too skinny and the covers give a better grip! Keep in touch!
DeWitt isnt that just off of hwy 30? is 30 part of the Lincoln Hwy. We have road over to Anamosa to the motorcycle museum and stop at J.P. Cycles. We came down the one time to Savanna crossed over the rive at Sabula took 64 west to Preston went north to 45th st went west and took all back roads over to just north of Anamosa till we hit 151 just north of J.P. Cycles It was a nice ride with nice sweeping curves hills think it was rt.E23 more roads I dont know the names of just know where to trun.
The gatering in Ogden would be great. This is the kind of thing I want to do. My sister lives in Greeley, Colorado and I am planning to visit her. I have to go through Ogden either going or coming. I will try to make that part of the trip!!
I get up to the Quad cities three times a year. I'll let you know when I'm in town. unfortunately I'm always driving the conversion van and pulling a trailer when I'm up there, so I miss the good riding in the area. boohoo, just get to watch the bikes go by.
Hi Larry - yes the roads here in PA are what they seemed from the interstate. Where I live anyway! Small town, lots of winding roads through the forests, great mom and pop stores and restaurtants along the way. Very fortunate to live here with our beautiful rolling countryside but if we could only have a longer riding season! =)
Morning, The seat is hard and uncomfortable. But as we know we get the butt to ride. It was more me. Being I hadn't been on a long ride I just wasn't used to it. but would like to go on another long ride. I had bought a Mustang seat but it sat me up to high (was on my tip toes, not a good thing) and back away from the handle bars. Had put in a riser for the handle bars. could use another pullout of inch. but then have to replace the wires. In time I will. the Mustang seat sat up 2" so there took my clearance I needed. Being 4'11" my legs rn't to long..........LOL So I decided it was safer to use stock. I can ride the bigger bikes but my legs arn't long enough to fit over the stuff between my legs. Have a great day!!!!!!
Larry dont know if you looked at my profile page I have a website page that will take you to photobucket pages with lots if photos to look at if you would like to look
LOL.. You know why he was looking that way.. My mom stopped the wedding and told him that there was no returns, refunds or exchanges he took this AS IS... LOL..
