19 south, not 19 truck south is a good road for motorcycles as well. It runs through the Cherokee Nation and boasts some amazing mountain riding. It's as dangerous in spots as the dragon so be careful if you go that way. the rock walls are very close to the road surface in several spots. There is no room for mistakes.

OK. You'll enjoy the Tail. My partner and I went in April of 2009 and it was an experience we still enjoy sharing with each other and others over a campfire and a beer.

But keep in mind that the Tail of the Dragon (there is no "dragon" so far as I know, just the "Tail") is only eleven (11) miles. When we went we spent most of a day riding up and down the tail (as I remember we rode it South-to-North, then North-to-South four (4) times, but the best rides are really other roads in the area. By "best rides" I mean the rides that allow you to get up to decent speeds, say 45-60mph, and to enjoy the mountain views.

The most obvious of these if the Cherohala Skyway, but there are others available and all you have to do is ask the locals for advice on good motorcycle roads ... they are good about helping with their advice or opinions.

Enjoy the roads through Cherokee Nation. You won't break speed records unless you are a fool, but you'll find great riding and great people.
