Had a great ride yesterday. All in Northern Illinois, rode from my home in Roscoe to meet a friend in SW Rockford. We rode down Highway 2 through Bryon and to Mud Creek Rd towards Mt. Morris. Mud Creek ends at IL 64 and we continued on that all the way to Mt. Carrol. Lots of motorcycles out on this route! Then we headed north on IL 78 just a little ways and then we turned right on Elizabeth Rd. Thats where the fun and the scenery really starts. Lots of twists and turns, elevation changes and beautiful views! Anyway, we rode Elizabeth Rd. to Albrecht Rd. and took that west to Derinda Rd. We rode that north to Highway 20. Took that west through the town of Elizabeth and then took Scales Mound Road north to Stagecoach Trail. There we headed back east (and south) to Lena. Then we took Cedarville Rd. back towards home. What a great ride!!! Along the way we saw some wildlife, a wind farm and lots of motorcycles. Anyone in the Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin or even Eastern Iowa area should give the ride from Mt. Carrol to Lena a whirl. It really is incredible riding. Definitely gonna be one of my autumn rides.

Thanks for the route tip, CHayn. I'll make an effort to ride that Mt. Carol to Lena route. I spend time in Western Illinois and Wisconsin (going today) regularly, so am glad to add one more route to my list of favorites. Ride safe, and have a happy Independence Day!
