I put my carry-on in the luggage compartment and sat down in my assigned
seat. It was going to be a long flight. 'I'm glad I have a good book to
read. Perhaps I will get a short nap,' I thought.
Just before take-off, a line of soldiers came down the aisle and filled
all the vacant seats, totally surrounding me. I decided to start a
conversation. 'Where are you headed?' I asked the soldier seated nearest
to me. 'Petawawa. We'll be there for two weeks for…

Chad (see member "Chad" from DeWitt, Iowa) and I just returned from a four day trip to the Robbinsville, NC - Deal Gap, TN area. Much to share but most will have to wait until I have more time.

Summary: We trailered bikes from Iowa to our motel in Robbinsville, NC in order to limit travel time to a single (16 hour) day on the road. Trip started at 6:00AM Saturday, April 25,…

I was asked by a friend to drive her new, 2008 Sportster 1200 Custom from Boise to McCall as she is not licensed. I was glad to oblige since I had once considered a 1200 Custom as my bike of choice and affordability. The bike weighs in at about 560+ pounds so is not a light weight anymore (older 1200's used to be below 500 lbs). The bike comes stock with custom seat, wire wheel up front, 5 speed transmission, forward controls (a must on any bike in my opinion), a 150/80 rear tire,…

The alternator on my V-Star went to Parts Heaven last Friday. Not to complain too much because the bike has nearly 40,000 miles on it. But the timing sucked the big one for a variety of reasons. I'm upset - don't want to talk about it. Sigh.
Well, okay. The alternator will be rebuilt, but all three (3) stators are bad, so it's not a quickie job, nor a cheap one. Parts are expected in by early Wednesday, and the labor is then about two (2) hours. Total cost - well, it's more than my…

I have to agree with others about this sight...This sight is different than other motorcycle sights and I hope it stays that way! People here seem truly interested in making friends and learning more about areas, trips, and motorcycles...and not just a meat market, lol. I'm glad I found this sight!!!

This is just to make all those people feel better who have ever done something they felt was "stupid". Like make a mistake during the "learning" process on your motorcycle. I've been riding since I bought my first "scooter" at age 14 - and I'm 67 now, so you can do the math.
Yesterday I was killing time waiting for my ride partner to show up for a day on the road; by "killing time", I mean I was riding my V Star on the street in front of my house, practicing low-speed "tight U-turns"…

No matter what you might or might not celebrate today, have a great weekend with the family or friends today! I also hope that your Sunday is going to be as beautiful as ours will be in Georgia today.

My fellow bikers,
I am departing on a three week bike ride beginning on April 20. My route has some specific destinations but I am interested in getting your suggestions on routes through the Hill Country of TX. I will be entering TX from the Ozark region and am unfamiliar with good rides in that country.
Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
