Oh by the way, We got the rest of the blasted tar off ME and the Bike at home. What a mess. The worst part was that when I put my foot on the foot boards, I couldn't get my foot back off!!! It stuck good

Can't wait for the next rode trip. You did really well and held your own just fine. Your a good rider. Besides a good seat on the bike, practice is the next best thing.

Good writing Kat. You put us on the road in staggered formation with the rest of the Wiley family and that's what a good story-teller does. A 100 mile trip is at least a 2 hour ride, and for a new rider, it is probably a guarantee for "iron butt" sy…

That "Bus" is a 1947 Dodge, we call it the Willeybago. We pulled it from a creek bed, put new running gear and a big block chrysler motor.

Yeh, the snow made us so homesick for riding that I made that snow bike, no wind shield time though, just cold butt

First long ride...

Well, I've had my motorcycle license for a couple of weeks now, and my parents decided that I was ready for a real road trip. We rode from Effingham to Springfield, about 100 miles one way. We left at about 9:00 this morning, and by the time we got halfway, my backside was so sore, I couldn't understand how my mom wanted to do the whole trip in one go. And my dad too, he's been having trouble with his leg, he needs to stop every once in a while and take an aleve, but we had gone fifty miles and… Continue

Well, I just finished my second day of the MSF class...wow, more than anything I feel so much more confident in handling the bike. Tommorrow is the test day, so we'll see what happens!! Fingers crossed!!

Welcome to the group, Kat. The MSF is a great course and you come from a line of quick learners. The V-Star is my own bike too, though mine is the Classic - like your Mom's - instead of the Custom.

I look forward to visiting with you here, and it would even be great if sometime we could all ride together. My work keeps me busy, and traveling, and like everyone else, when I have the time, I don't have the money, and vice versa ... but one of these weekends, maybe we can all meet at a common location like Poopy's in Savanna or somewhere else they serve food and drink.

I am digressing - the important thing now is, welcome to the forums, and to the brotherhood (and sisterhood) of two wheels, Kat!!
