There's so much still up in the air, Grumpy, but FYI, the confusion factors are: I do most of my riding with my son, Chad, aged 37, who is a family man and a heat and air contractor. His ability to leave his job long enough to participate is in question. But he might be able to go if I "trailer out". I own a 3-bike trailer, but we haven't used it for 3 bikes yet. If we took that, Chad might be able to go with us because we could share driving and go straight-through, then unload the bikes when there. And there might be room for us to carry a 3rd bike with us.
But if he says he can't go at all, then it's a new ball game. I have a fella interested - from Missouri (a member here) - but he and I were talking about riding, not trailering. So like I said, the details are "up in the air" until Chad makes a decision.
In the meantime, the only thing I know for sure is that time frame of somewhere during the four (4) weeks between mid-May and mid-June. Might even hold it off until the last half of June if that makes the difference for someone between going or not going.
If I ride the whole thing, I would plan on taking a full week for the entire trip out and back, so we have time to ride the Cherohala Skyway and hit other points of interest in the Smokey Mts., or along the way.
I'd love to go to CO again, but prob do my own thing since (insert loosers name here) is going to Mavericks doings. My parents used to live in Cripple Creek CO, so know my way around.
Don't really have any interest in going back to NC, Should have been held someplace else so other riders could have a shot at it too.
Last time I drove thru Tulsa traffic was backed up forever from road work, I was heading towards Dallas. I took 2 lane roads all the way to Panama City last month, took a bit longer but none of the crazies doing 90 or traffic tie ups. Bowling Green KY the worst, but not that bad.
Doc and I say we will meet again, not sure where- when, in another year/life whatever, hope to see you too.
