Drinking and Riding II

Alcohol was defnitely a factor in a crash that occured last week in Jacksonville, NC area. One drunk rider, naked in addition to having no helmet, and a female passenger (also naked at the time of the incident) and not wearing a helmet decided that would be the best time to go for a ride. Of course cops noticed, and decided to stop and ask for ID. God only knows where they would have put it. The guy opted for running away from the cops. Being drunk, he crashed and the girl broke an arm and a

VFW ride

I had to go out last weekend with one of the local VFW chapters from Burgaw, NC area to Fayetteville, NC. They were a real nice bunch of folks, that wanted to go out and speak with some of our older veterans and remind them their service is not forgotten, nor are they. The smiles we brought walking into their spaces made it worth while to do. Having to ride a good 100 miles just to get there didn't hurt none either.

It's been a long time for the winter to go away even down east. I ride

Orders almost here

I spoke with my detailer today and my orders to Rhode Island should be in my inbox by Monday. I'll be in the northeast by 15 November. Hopefully I'll get some riding in before the snow sets in and makes it impossible.

Summer riding season coming to a close

I have to say I'm a bit saddened at how quickly it's gotten cold in North Carolina lately. I have to transfer to Rhode Island before very much longer, and have had to throw some extra clothes on now pretty far south of my next duty station. I've been everywhere this summer from the Outer Banks to the Badlands with some nice trips in the middle like the New River Gorge Bridge. I rode the Dragon and got bit, via the Cherokee Nation, in May, went out to Rider's Roost with a buddy in September, and… Continue

Aaron, thanks for the feedback on yourself. I joined the group and will look forward to purchasing a patch when they are ready. Thanks for doing that. I will wear the patch proudly. Thank you for your service! I got a ride in yesterday and it was great. Today is absolutely beautiful and is currently about 40 degrees, looking for a high of about 50+.

I have to see wher you are going with the Navy Ghost Riders before I rejoin, you did seem to get more strung out on "the patch deal." Even if I rejoined, I would not wear a patch for an "online" group anyway. Your ideals are there, but you have to be more open, did you really read all the info an that web site? Even before I owned my bike, which is 12000 miles old as of today, I have been a member of ABATE for well over 5 years. Seen alot of what the site talks about.

Aaron, the best way for members to help out with our toy run is come out and join us and bring a toy. If you can not join us on our's, do not hesitate to join your area's toy run, no mater which group is "sponsoring" and not forgetting the USMC Toy's for Tots. Imagine yourself as a child in the hospital, having surgery, receiving treatment for life threatening illnesses, our just been hurt in a serious accident, the toys, activity books and batteries bought and donated by the community for the children will help ease their stress and fears. This is what it is all about.

Very easy fuel stabilizer, a little dry gas and I change all my fluids just for 2 reasons. The dirt in your oils aren't sitting there over the longer periods and it all set once the weather gets better. Good luck. Tom

durango is 500 miles from salt lake.. utah has a wide range of country to look at flat to mountinous, desert to farmlands and the run to durango has all of that.. the most beautiful part to me is the mountains of colorado, a lot of small mountain towns, one with a large hot springs vacation spot.. there are all kinds of places to stay from koa camps to hotel hiltons to tent it in the woods. lots of palces to fish in col., may want to do that in the future. weather in july/aug is usually hot and dry.
