My guys are leaving for Sturgis on the first of August. We're leaving out of North Carolina. We could meet somewhere in the midwest and ride part of the way with you. There are four of us going. Let me know if you're interested.

Drinking and Riding II

Alcohol was defnitely a factor in a crash that occured last week in Jacksonville, NC area. One drunk rider, naked in addition to having no helmet, and a female passenger (also naked at the time of the incident) and not wearing a helmet decided that would be the best time to go for a ride. Of course cops noticed, and decided to stop and ask for ID. God only knows where they would have put it. The guy opted for running away from the cops. VFW ride

I had to go out last weekend with one of the local VFW chapters from Burgaw, NC area to Fayetteville, NC. They were a real nice bunch of folks, that wanted to go out and speak with some of our older veterans and remind them their service is not forgotten, nor are they. The smiles we brought walking into their spaces made it worth while to do. Having to ride a good 100 miles just to get there didn't hurt none either.

Orders almost here

I spoke with my detailer today and my orders to Rhode Island should be in my inbox by Monday. I'll be in the northeast by 15 November. Hopefully I'll get some riding in before the snow sets in and makes it impossible.

Summer riding season coming to a close

I have to say I'm a bit saddened at how quickly it's gotten cold in North Carolina lately. I have to transfer to Rhode Island before very much longer, and have had to throw some extra clothes on now pretty far south of my next duty station. I've been everywhere this summer from the Outer Banks to the Badlands with some nice trips in the middle like the New River Gorge Bridge. At 10:37pm on August 31, 2009, pete o said…: durango is 500 miles from salt lake.. utah has a wide range of country to look at flat to mountinous, desert to farmlands and the run to durango has all of that.. the most beautiful part to me is the mountains of colorado, a lot of small mountain towns, one with a large hot springs vacation spot.. there are all kinds of places to stay from koa camps to hotel hiltons to tent it in the woods. lots of palces to fish in col., may want to do that in the future. weather in july/aug is usually hot and dry.
