Just wondering what brand or kind of throttle lock everyone else uses. Planning on getting one soon.

I know I shouldn't be concerned. Just hoping that when we go, we see more than just Harley's, and can buy things that are not just for Harley's. Why doesn't Yamaha/Star have more stuff, can't ever find stuff with my Star logo on it like you can HD.

Ah, the road bell. It is not a myth, it is as real as Santa Claus, and the first thing I check before any ride is my bell. It was given to me by one of my best friends (a HD Road King rider). You have no idea (yes, you probably do) how many times my bell has captured evil road gremlins and saved me from their mischievous deeds.

And like Mike (Rdcnslr) says, you cannot give a bell to yourself. Well, you can, but then all it is is a bell, without any magical properties at all. Mine is attached to the horizontal front support bar, with a zip-tie that is strong enough to pull a train ... damned if I'm going to let those gremlins get away to cause more mischief, they are going to stay right there in that bell forever! LOL! Luv it - have a Happy New Year All!

About Robin's comment regarding Sturgis being a HD event. No, maam, it is not. In 2004, the last year I saw figures for, there were 525,250 attendees, and I'm willing to bet there were a quarter-million non-Harleys in that number, probably close to a third of a million. I never, ever, give a thought to the makes and models of bikes when I go anywhere, but in thinking about my rides, I would have to say that more than half, in any ride or location, are not HD - with the exception of specifically Harley-sponsored events.

Speaking of which - and stated only in fun to my HD-rider friends - how can you possibly know whether the Harley Davidson crowd disapproves of you when they are waaaay back there behind your Yamaha???

I just ran a search for the word "Harley" on the home page of "sturgisrally.com" and guess what I found? ZERO occurrences, except for one advertisement by a dealer (bottom of page) named "Latus Harley Davidson Motorcycles". Enuf said?

Yeh, we have always had bells. Jay just called me and he's gonna make a hitch himself for the Road Star. Just can't find a manf that makes em for a Star.

Is there any Road Stars riders out there that pull a trailer?

Well, the 25th is supposed to be the silver anniversary as for the bike, chrome is close enough! Do you two have ride bells? You could exchange silver ride bells. Remember, you can't give yourself a ride bell, they are supposed to come from another rider, otherwise it will bring BAD not GOOD LUCK!

Robin, I am sure the 650 will do fine. You know, Larry Walther could probably give you some good advice and info on how well the 650 will do on a long trip and hot weather. He had his for a long time and did all kinds of rides. Also, Congratulations on the 25th Anniversary! You need to add something silver to the bike to celebrate! My wife and I will be celebrating our 27th on the 25th of June! Enjoy!

Jay and I are planning on riding our stars to Sturigs. It's 1075 miles for us. Jay got his hands on a used bike trailer. Does anyone know if anyone make a trailer hitch for a Road Star? Can't find one. We are planning on camping in Peidmont, a little calmer area than in Sturgis. 10 days! 25th Anniversay present to each other. Hope my little 650 can hack it.
