I spent an afternoon this week riding to and touring the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa; I've uploaded a dozen photos I took while there. The museum is in a downtown building in Anamosa, and covers most of the street-level floor, and all of a sub-level below that. Anamosa is located at the "T" intersection of Iowa Hiway #151 and Iowa Hiway #64.
There are more than 200 motorcycles on display, and the displays include everything we ride today such as Yamaha, Harley Davidson, Kawasaki, Triumph, Honda, BMW and more ... and quite a few that are no longer available such as Indian, BSA, and several attention grabbing "custom" rides. These relics range in age from 1908 to the 1980s.
The museum is open 7-days a week. There is a public gift shop offering "bling", patches, shirts, hats, jackets and much more ... but to get into the museum sections, you are asked to pay a small fee (currently $7 per person - kids 12 and under are free if they are accompanied, as I remember).
If you have the chance, go see it - it's is a definite "must" if you are a bike and history buff.

Also in Anamosa, on June 29, 2009, is the annual
J&P Cycles® 29th Annual Open House. To quote J&P Cycle's promotion wording: "
The open house is FREE for the whole family. This one-day event hosted over 11,000 people last year and has become the largest one day event in the Midwest" (no, Sturgis doesn't count, it's not a one-day event). ;^)
Special Celebrity appearances by: The Motorcycle Monster, Michelle Smith from SPEED’s American Thunder TV show, Builder Roland Sands and Jesse Rooke, and The Road Hazard’s Extreme Team Motorcycle stunt show."
To continue: The event takes place from 8am to 5pm and includes displays from over 60 of the industry’s leading manufacturers. Events throughout the day include: A Motorcycle Rodeo, Ride-In Bike Show, DJ Music, A Dyno Run, “Ride Like a Pro” Skill Riding demonstrations, special activities for the kids, Free Food and Drinks, Door Prizes, Custom Bikes, and much, much more!"
Plan to stop in DeWitt on the way to Anamosa. Give me a call ~ my name is in the book. Don't miss the best show in the Midwest - J&P Cycle's 29th Anniversary party!!
