Looking for a good round trip route suggestions from Connecticut to Kentucky/Tenn/North Carolina

I have 16days to complete this route would like to stay in tenting campgrounds on this ride as much
as possible have been unemployed for some time. Wife still working and only has two weeks vacation.
I had heard years ago that there was a route that used a lot of the state/national park campgrounds this might help keep the cost down but I have been unable to find any info on such a route.

If you're going to eastern Tennessee/North Carolina I would suggest a trip down the "Tail of the Dragon" (US 29). Great route, beautiful scenery. Remember if you try it to keep it to a weekday in the morning. Heard it's much too busy on the weekends. Have a great trip!

Riders Roost near Ferguson is a motorcycle only camp ground in western North Carolina. It's very close to Grandfather Mountain, 221 South a beautiful secondary road full of twists, and scenery along the blue ridge mountains. Tent camping was only $12 a person last time I stopped there. I would be happy to meet with you somewhere and ride along. I like the longer trips more than the short hops. Boone, North Carolina, and Blowing Rock are some nice places to visit as well. in teh west. If you come down the east coast, state route 12 is a nice ride along the outer banks. The light house tour is a good ride.
motorcycleroads.com can offer you some insight into the rides available in North Carolina.
