I am looking to buy some seat pads and am trying to decide between Gell or Air, anyone have and thoughts?

I only have indirect experience. A guy told me that gel - under a black cover - tends to absorb heat in the summer sun, and can get so hot it will "melt" the leather on the seat. Whether that is true or not, I don't know, because my information was kinda 3rd hand. I don't even know if that qualifies as my 2 cents worth ... maybe a penny's worth. ;^)

I bought a black sheepskin cover with a 2" thick slab of gel zipped inside. I took the gel out and just use the sheepskin, I will never ride in heat without it. A dry butt is a happy butt. Makes all the difference. I've also put my helmet on a rest area picnic table, put the sheepskin on the helmet, and rested my head on it taking little naps................(yes, that wierdo was me.)

That is a good suggestion about the Sheepskin, but how was the Gel?

Actually, the reason I took the gel out was because those couple extra inches made my arms really tired because of the way I adjusted for that little bit of height. I'm pretty short, so it really made a difference. It was soft and cushy, but I've got enough "natural" padding and didn't really need the gel.
