Alternator-rotor-starter-problem

My starter wasn't engaging, just grinding/spinning. Removed the left side cover. 2 bolt ends fell out ot the rotor. About .5cm thread. I'm trying to remove the rotor with a puller but after about 4 or 5 rotations it won't go any further. What gives?
